As the human toll mounts in Gaza, the irrational justifications for, and execution of, war are front of mind. I won’t wade into the complex history of the region or opine one way or another on the oppression or bigotry flowing in both directions. I write only to point out the absurdity, cruelty and hypocrisy associated with all wars, especially when considering our own country.
The "beheaded babies" story was false. There is no evidence of any Israeli babies or children being beheaded by Hamas. No names of said children, no families claiming their child was beheaded, no medical records, death certificates or photos/videos.
There are, however, at least 5,000 dead Palestinian children, some of whom were decapitated by Israel's bombs. I've seen the pictures and I hope never to see the like again. There is no both-sidesing this. Israel has been occupying and oppressing Palestine for at least 75 years since the Nabka. What happened on 10/7 doesn't begin to equal it, especially since Israel has now adjusted the death count downward (1,200) and many of the dead were killed by Israeli forces.
Yes, we need a ceasefire and we need peace, but it needs to be a peace that offers justice to the Palestinian people. Right of return. Land back. Equal citizenship and rights. Freedom of movement. Things that any people should have, I hope we all agree.
Write to Biden. I have been storming him at whitehouse.gov/contact for weeks now. I have been calling every Dem in the congressional directory to tell them to push Biden out NOW and that I will not vote for him in 2024, come hell or high water! Biden is complicit, he has blood on his hands, there isn't any war Biden doesn't love or hasn't voted to enter or start, YET HE HIMSELF HAS NEVER SERVED IN THE MILITARY! I also told Biden that his "bro Bibi" is responsible for his downfall, since Biden continues to "support Israel." Disgusting! The U.S. has provided Israel with billions of $$ in aid every year, and TONS of WMD. I have told Biden over and over it is time to change the paradigm on this Earth of dictators oppressing, impoverishing, and embezzling from their countries' peoples. CHANGE THE PARADIGM. Biden's cowardice and tepid, timid response to Putin's attacks on Ukraine has only served to make Putin bolder and more aggressive, and has, sadly, prolonged that war. Biden didn't want to do anything to "provoke" Putin, thus no F-16s to the rescue very early on. And the EU should not just issue warrants for his arrest if he steps outside Russia, they should go in and get him and drag him off to The Hague for immediate trial and conviction for war crimes and crimes against humanity. SO SICK OF THE FEW RUINING LIFE ON EARTH FOR THE REST OF US!
